Finnish welding company Kemppi has opened a new unit in Pune, which is designed to be the base for countrywide sales. The facility, which has been strategically located for convenient access to key markets, will play a vital role in helping Kemppi to grow and expand its business in India.
The company's decision to establish a base in Pune comes at a time when the welding industry in India is experiencing demand-led growth, fuelled by the nation's infrastructural development and industrialisation efforts. This shift towards development has resulted in increased demand for welding equipment and technologies that are ideal for various applications across industries.
Kemppi, which has made a name for itself in the production of innovative welding equipment, is expected to leverage its expertise to take advantage of the lucrative welding segment in India. By localising its sales and distribution, the company hopes to offer more customised solutions that cater to the unique needs of customers across the region.
The manufacturing facility will focus on producing state-of-the-art TIG and MIG welding equipment, which are widely used in various industries like aerospace, energy, transport and welding automation. These products are designed to enhance productivity and improve the quality of welds, while significantly reducing the overall material and labour costs involved in welding.
Additionally, Kemppi's new state-of-the-art technology centre in Pune will offer advanced welding solutions to its customers, including welding education, technology demonstration, and hands-on application support. The centre will also provide training programs for aspiring welders, thereby contributing to skill development and upskilling initiatives in the region.
Commenting on the new facility's launch, Antti Kivimäki, Kemppi's CEO, said, "India is a critical market for the welding industry, and our new Pune facility is an essential part of our global growth strategy. By strengthening our presence in the country, we can offer customers customised solutions to help them improve their welding processes and grow their businesses."
Kivimäki also added, "We aim to create a strong network across India, with local experts who understand the unique requirements of our customers in each region. With our extensive experience in welding technology and local market knowledge, we are confident that we can provide meaningful solutions to customers, helping them achieve their objectives and make their businesses more efficient and profitable."
Jiangyin Xinlian Welding Equipment Co., Ltd., which was established in 2006 in Wuxi, Jiangsu, is a high-tech enterprise that is involved in production, research and development, sales, and service. The company produces high-quality welding equipment that is used across a range of industries such as automotive, construction, shipbuilding, and offshore.
Kemppi's foray into India comes at an opportune moment as the Indian government is aggressively promoting the "Make in India" initiative to transform the country into a global manufacturing hub. The initiative is aimed at boosting local manufacturing and positioning India as a force to reckon with in the global manufacturing landscape.
With this bold move, Kemppi has not only strengthened its position in India but also set the tone for further investments in the country. As the Indian economy continues to grow, Kemppi's Pune unit is poised to play an instrumental role in supporting India's growth story by offering robust and innovative welding solutions to its customers.
